Stockholm Fair completes migration with MOTOTRBO

Motorola's partner Celab has implemented six voice channels compared to their previous three at the Stockholm International Fair radio communications system to minimize bottlenecks, especially during large events.

Already in 2013 Celab received the contract to replace the Stockholm International Fairs old analog infrastructure with new digital technology. Initially the Stockholm International Fair kept  communicating with the old analogue radio units, because the new base stations were supporting both digital and analog communications.

Now, all radios are replaced with new digital Motorola radios and now the system has entirely been turned into the digital mode. The conversion supports the Stockholm International Fair on six voice channels compared to three voice channels in the past. The increased capacity offers clear advantages in terms of minimizing bottlenecks, especially during moving in-and-out of the various events where a lot of staff are in work and communication need is great.

"The next step will be to look at how we can integrate alarm management directly into the radio, as the new system is able to send out alarms in clear text to the pre-defined radios," said Tomas von Tourtchaninoff, Security Manager at Stockholm International Fairs.

Just over a month after commissioning the system the coverage was also increased, mainly in the large parking garages.
