TETRA communications for new Olsztyn-Mazury Regional Airport

On 22 December, at the official website of the airport an inquiry on the construction of the new TETRA system was published. The tender described the delivery and implementation of turnkey system.

The airport is located 59 km away from the regional capital Olsztyn. The planned date to begin scheduled flights is August in 2015. When active, the airport will have scheduled flights around Poland by Sprint Air, further plans are to follow including low-budget airline Ryanair.

The airport will mainly used for transport servicing the region of Warmii and Mazur. Airport operations will will be started as soon as the certificate issued by the President of the Civil Aviation Authority.

On 22 December, at the official website of the airport an inquiry on the construction of the new TETRA system was published. The tender described the delivery and implementation of turnkey TETRA system. The supplier will need  to obtain permits, radio frequency, and any formal arrangements.

The TETRA digital system will have to enable smooth operation and co-ordination of various services such as air traffic control, the operating department, department of safety and security, border guards, customs officers, police and other relevant services departments.

Radio coverage should be provided at a distance of 8 km from the center of the reference point of the runway.

The system will include of a complete base station, 11 mobile radios, 44 portable radio (including 4 ATEX version), and the necessary set of accessories. 

There was very little time for the submission of proposals and an answer on the query expected to be delivered on the 31 December 2014.
