Motorola Solutions recently received the task to modernize and to expand the existing TETRA digital radio system of the RNV (Rhine-Neckar Transport) GmbH. The TETRA system, used by Rhein-Neckar Transport, is one of the largest TETRA systems for public transport communications in Germany.

At the same time Motorola Solutions signed a service contract with the RNV for a period of 11 years,  included with 24/7 support, system upgrades, security updates and repairs. With this services contract, a smooth operation of the TETRA system will be gueranteed.

The RNV operates light rail, tram and bus services in the cities of Mannheim, Heidelberg, Ludwigshafen and Weinheim as well as the Rhine-Neckar region, Rhineland-Pfalz region, Bad Durkheim with more than 164 million passengers per year.

The modern TETRA digital radio system allows optimal passenger services and supports RNV staff with monitoring and control dynamic passenger information system on all lines of RNV.

The project will be implemented by the general contractor Trapeze Switzerland GmbH. The longtime Motorola partner is one of the world's leading providers of software solutions and intelligent transportation systems for transport companies and transport organizations.
