In April 2014 the Ministry of the Presidency awarded Hytera Mobilfunk to extend their current TETRA system. Currently the Hytera TETRA radio system consists of six base stations, one switching unit and a comprehensive network management system

In 2013 Hytera realized a radio solution for providing radio communications and a secure 911 service for the Santo Domingo area. The radio system is part of a comprehensive project which includes a 911 system, a camera surveillance system and the communications infrastructure with its respective terminals.

Currently the Hytera TETRA radio system consists of six base stations, one switching unit and a comprehensive network management system. In 2014 this system will be extended by Hytera by four base stations. The radio system covers the whole National District and Santo Domingo province together with neighbouring municipalities.

The TETRA solution enables all Public Safety groups to work effectively together to attack insecurity and attend any public emergency that may occur. Rapid response when needed by its citizens as well as control and dispatch facilities for all participating agencies such as Police, Fire, Ambulances and others, guarantee the safety of citizens.

Out of the five proposals the Dominican Government received for this public tender, Hytera Mobilfunk offered the best solution and the best price. Marco Martinato, VP Sales of Hytera Mobilfunk Germany, stated: “The key of our success was that Hytera Mobilfunk presented the most solid technical and economical offer, carried out a trial to demonstrate the strengths and powerful features of the ACCESSNET®-T TETRA system and teamed up with the local partner Avelock Dominicana.”
