Etherstack's offering to connect existing public safety PMR/LMR networks to carrier-hosted MCPTX is gaining global traction.

Etherstack, the world’s leading licensor of wireless technologies for the public safety and mission critical radio industries, has notched up yet another win with a major international carrier, Telstra in Australia, for it’s MCX LMR Interworking Function (IWF) product. The telco will trial Etherstack’s solution over the next 9 or so months.

Following on from their initial LMR IWF win for the AT&T FirstNet project, Etherstack are demonstrating global appeal for their offering to connect existing public safety PMR/LMR networks to carrier hosted MCPTX solutions as this emerging market evolves around the world.

With a longstanding “deep tech” background in all of the underlying wireless protocols, such as TETRA, DMR and APCO P25 through licensing to dozens of vendors in the past 20 years, Etherstack seem well poised to capitalise on the transition to MCPTX through their technological advantage.

Etherstack’s Chief Executive Officer, David Deacon said: “We are thrilled to have the opportunity to trial our MCX IWF with Telstra at home in Australia. Our technology is being well received in multiple markets globally and it is great to have our technology being used in support of local public safety applications”. He continued, “Etherstack has been at the forefront of standards-based public safety communications innovation for over 20 years. It is fantastic to see adoption of our world-class MCX IWF technology in multiple carriers across the globe”

The Australian Government has recently announced a national PPDR initiative called PSMB (public safety mobile broadband), following hot on the heels of the US FirstNet, UK’s ESN and New Zealand’s NGCC programs.

We are confident that you'll see more to come from Etherstack given the company's continuing focus on its MCX IWF solutions.
