FREQUENTIS 3020 LifeX: Operational Excellence

Allowing flawless service provision for public safety organisations by complementing great operator features with first-class maintenance capabilities.

Providing just a fully-fledged communication and information facility for the operator is not enough. In today’s technology landscape, the solution has to be maintainable and extendable with the least amount of effort as possible. If only the operators as well as the maintenance personnel were equipped with a system which supports the daily business in the best possible manner, whilst at the same time delivering the best performance. With the 3020 LifeX portfolio by Frequentis, these thoughts have been the basis of our development, providing full transparency about what’s going on in the system. As a result of the inherent logging functionality, it is also possible to continuously generate key performance indicators and evaluate the service level agreements. This allows a continuous improvement of the service quality to the agency’s users and stakeholders.

Equipped with a browser based configuration and monitoring tool, administrating the system becomes a very easy task and is not dependent on specific locations. If a configuration is changed, the effected parts of the system are able to load and apply these changes at runtime without restarting. By applying best practices the solution can also be integrated to already existing system monitoring and deployment tools.

Agencies will also benefit from the extensive use of commercial-off-the-shelf products, as this simplifies the technical landscape quite considerably. The 3020 LifeX system was developed in a way that there is no dedicated hardware needed. The system can run on any infrastructure, distributed or centralized – it is still the same system, but the customer can decide how to operate it!

Not only can the backend be deployed on existing equipment, it is also possible to access all communication facilities with existing clients, which can even be a mobile device. This is achieved by using platform independent UI technology. By this, there is nearly no limitation about how the users can carry out their everyday work.

The operator

  • can fulfil all communication tasks (radio, telephony, multimedia, …) using a single, integrated solution
  • can rely on highest availability of the communication system
  • can access the system without being bound to geographical premises

The maintenance personnel

  • can manage and maintain the complete solution in an easy manner
  • does not struggle with complex scalability mechanisms

The business

  • can constantly evaluate key performance indicators and adapt business processes where necessary
  • can lower operational costs, since only commercial-off-the-shelf components are used
