Simoco Wireless Solutions today announced its continued close relationship with Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) supporting its emergency communications system for a further 3 years.

For nearly a decade, Simoco Wireless Solutions has developed innovative emergency communications solutions and provided radio equipment to DFAT. As a result, over 3,000 radios and associated equipment is currently operating at over forty Australian Embassies worldwide.

Each network employs handheld radios, desktop radios as well as vehicle radios, all connected by a high-powered repeater. The resulting capability facilitates safe travel for Embassy staff by providing reliable communications independent of fragile local communication networks.

The contract further enhances Simoco’s continuing commitment to support DFAT’s radio network by encouraging research to make the existing network resilient and to embed emerging technologies.

Jens Stephan from DFAT said “We have been working with Simoco over the last several years and love how they go above and beyond in developing the perfect solution specifically tailored to suit our needs; we look forward in continuing our relationship with Simoco.”

Peter Scarlata CEO Simoco Australasia said “Simoco being an Anglo Australian business has always taken great pride in developing innovate mission critical solutions for DFAT. Over the last 8 years we have been working closely with the department and are delighted to be continuing to support and enhance DFAT’s networks globally.”
