Centennial Elementary School and Florida State University Schools Awarded a Combined $30,000 in Safety Technology through Video Contest.

Centennial Elementary School, in the Chicago suburb of Barlett, Ill., was voted the grand prize winner and received $20,000 worth of radios and accessories from Motorola Solutions’ MOTOTRBO portfolio. The runner up, Florida State University Schools, in Tallahassee, Fla. was awarded $10,000 worth of technology from the portfolio. Motorola Solutions channel partners Illinois Communications and Mobile Communication of America donated time and resources for delivery and implementation of the technology.

“Submissions to our video contest demonstrated creativity and passion, and we are excited to recognize the very best with technology prizes that will help to keep students safe.” said John Zidar, corporate vice president, North America Commercial, Channel & Carrier, Motorola Solutions. “Motorola Solutions is a long-time supporter of local communities, schools and the students who will become our next generation of innovators.”

“This Motorola Solutions video contest has brought attention and accolades to our school’s popular after-school program,” said John Metz, administrative specialist, Florida State University Schools. “We are grateful for the opportunity to highlight the enrichment we are providing students through activities, tutoring and mentorship.”

“The doors of our school are often open, to accommodate student drop-off and pickup, recess and physical education,” said Sarah N. Rabe, principal, Centennial Elementary School. “It is imperative that we monitor foot traffic and visitor access to identify situations that could become dangerous to our students. With Motorola Solutions’ radios, our administrators and safety personnel are always connected.”
