Upgrade Swedish RAKEL TETRA system 'Rolls On'

Heavy snow and heavy winds at the end of February and early March, led to the decision to postpone some of the upgrade events.

MSB (the administrative authority, organised under the Ministry of Defence and responsible for issues concerning civil protection, public safety, emergency management and civil defence), announced that the upgrade of the network to Tetra system release 7 is 'rolling on'.

MSB mentioned that currently about half of all switches are upgraded to the latest software release.

The weather in Sweden, with heavy snow and heavy winds at the end of February and early March, led to the decision to only postpone some of the upgrading events.

With major disruptions in road and rail traffic in the country, it was essential that the end users of the RAKEL Tetra network would be able to contune communications without any network down time.

Because of the bad weather, remaining upgrade events are now re-planned.
