Ian Brown, the CEO and entrepreneur behind the formation and development of Axell Wireless announces that he is to depart the business at the end of October 2014.

Axell was acquired by defence and technology giant Cobham plc in May 2013 for £85m.

Ian Brown commented: “Creating and developing Axell Wireless has been one of the most stimulating and rewarding projects I have ever undertaken. Axell has grown to become one of the global market leaders with a dominant position in various markets around the world. We have attracted many customers with a constant stream of innovative products and technology coupled with a passion and commitment to customer service and partnership. Our successes are well documented and include some of the most demanding coverage projects in the industry including the London 2012 Olympics, the Pentagon in the USA, Eurotunnel, the national public safety system in Singapore, the Bundestag in Germany, and over 100 metro projects just to name a few. I would like to personally thank all of our many customers and partners for their business and for the strong relationships we have been able to forge. Axell has also been ranked by ABI research during 2014 as the “most innovative company” in the industry thanks to its many industry firsts and constant technical innovation over recent years. Most of all I have had the pleasure of working with and leading some of the most talented people in the industry without whose support, dedication and commitment our successes would not have been possible. I will be forever grateful for their trust and service. With Axell’s earn out targets being successfully achieved and the business now being integrated into the parent company Cobham, now is the time for me to leave to explore new ventures. I leave Axell with a competent and capable team and I look forward to seeing the business continue to develop and grow over the coming years”.
