JVCKENWOOD Prioritises Continued Investment in Critical Communications Under New VISION 2030 Growth Plan
Japanese electronics group confirms its Communications Systems Business remains the primary growth engine of its five-year "Move Forward" strategy, as public safety radio and broadband PTT technologies anchor the division's expansion.
JVCKENWOOD Corporation has formulated VISION 2030, a new five-year medium-term management plan built around the theme "Move Forward," under which the Japanese communications, visual and audio technology group will continue to direct proactive investment toward its Communications Systems Business, the division responsible for the professional radio systems used across public safety, transportation and enterprise markets worldwide.
The plan, formulated in May 2026, sets out long-term group targets of 500 billion yen or higher in revenue and a core operating income margin of 10 percent or higher, with interim key management indicators of 410 billion yen in revenue and a 9 percent margin. Central to reaching those targets is continued expansion of the Safety & Security Sector, which already accounted for 27 percent of group revenue and 61 percent of core operating income in the fiscal year ended March 2026, making it the most profitable of the company's three business sectors.
Announcing the strategy, Shoichiro Eguchi, Representative Director of the Board, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, and Akira Suzuki, Representative Director of the Board, President and Chief Operating Officer, said in a joint statement:
"In our newly formulated medium-term management plan VISION 2030, we have adopted 'Move Forward' as the theme, embodying our determination to turn change into strength and continue taking on new challenges. We will continue to make proactive investments in the growth-driving business of the Communications Systems Business to strengthen our business foundation, while also striving to improve profitability across all our business areas."
Within the Communications Systems Business, JVCKENWOOD supplies professional digital radio systems to police, fire and emergency medical services, as well as to enterprise users including railways, airports and educational institutions. The portfolio includes the Viking series of portable and in-vehicle digital radios, and the company continues to develop broadband Push-to-Talk (PTT) radios capable of national-scale communication over LTE and Wi-Fi networks. In North America, the group's P25 digital radio offering is led by subsidiary EF Johnson Technologies, whose tri-band VP8000 radio was named a finalist in the 2023 IDEA design awards and has since drawn positive field feedback from public safety users, including fire departments in Michigan reporting reliable performance in temperatures as low as minus 30 degrees Celsius.
The group's commitment to expanding the Communications Systems Business through acquisitions was underlined in 2026 with the conversion of San Luis Aviation, Inc., (ESChat) a broadband PTT business in the United States, into a consolidated subsidiary — the latest in a series of communications-focused acquisitions that has also included EF Johnson Technologies in 2014.
Alongside its public safety radio business, JVCKENWOOD also produces license-free, low-power DEMITOSS transceivers for restaurants, retail and construction sites, digital convenience radio repeater systems, and amateur radios, reflecting the breadth of a communications heritage tracing back to Kasuga Radio Co., Ltd., founded in 1946 and marking its 80th anniversary this year. Security and broadcasting solutions for the domestic Japanese market, including emergency broadcasting systems and security camera systems, are delivered through group company JVCKENWOOD Public & Industrial Systems Corporation.
VISION 2030 also arrives as JVCKENWOOD approaches further corporate milestones: the 100th anniversary of JVC in 2027 and the 20th anniversary of the JVCKENWOOD merger itself in 2028, following the 2008 integration of Victor Company of Japan, Limited and Kenwood Corporation. The company has said it will mark the three-year period from FY2026 through FY2028 under a "JVCKENWOOD Anniversary" banner focused on passing engineering expertise on to the next generation.
