Presenting the first ATEX TETRA radio with fully-integrated alarm sensor

Funkwerk Security Communications GmbH will exhibit at the largest TETRA industry event in the world May 24-27, 2011. After successfully participating at the previous two TETRA World Congresses in Munich and Singapore, Funkwerk Security Communications GmbH will for the first time be exhibiting at its own dedicated stand (D 201) in Budapest this year. The German manufacturer's portfolio of TETRA handsets has been optimized to reflect user needs. The robust FT4 series meets the toughest industrial requirements, boasting II 2G Ex ib IIC T4 Gb ATEX certification. Funkwerk is also presenting the first ATEX TETRA radio with fully-integrated alarm sensor enabling rapid rescues and use in personal alarm systems.

TETRA experts will meet at this year's TETRA World Congress in Budapest from the 24th to the 27th of May. As in previous years, presentations, seminars, and workshops in addition to an intensive exchange of knowledge between participating companies and experts will remain the event's core focus. Funkwerk Security Communications GmbH will be presenting TETRA radios equipped with high-end sensors. "The explosion-proof funkwerk FT4 Ex / FT4 S Ex has been developed for the chemical and petrochemical industries." This model adheres to the strict ATEX certification standard for gas and dust (II 2G Ex ib IIC T4 Gb / II 2D Ex ib III C T125°C IP6x Db) and possesses an extremely robust enclosure that makes it the first ATEX unit on the market with IP65 certification," explains Tilo Odernheimer, director of product management. "The TETRA World Congress is the ideal venue for us to demonstrate our expertise as developers of high-quality and high-performance TETRA devices."

The funkwerk FT4 series TETRA radios are equipped with high quality sensors and have been specially designed for use in prisons and, in the explosion-proof version, for the chemical and petrochemical industries. The handsets are equipped with personal security functionality for emergency situations including both manual and automatic alarms. The radios are also certified according to Germany’s employer liability insurance association guidelines for personal emergency systems in hazardous workplaces (BGR 139) and also comply with DIN V VDE 0825-1. The FT4 S and FT4 S Ex personal emergency systems combine in a single device automatic location tracking and comprehensive personal emergency signalling with TETRA functionality specially designed for group communications.

Telephony functionality, group communications and emergency signalling with automatic location tracking has been integrated first time into the funkwerk FT4 S model. For areas with high explosion risk as encountered in the petrochemical industry, Funkwerk is introducing the explosion-proof FT4 Ex handset. These new Ex handsets adhere to the ATEX 94/9/EG guideline and possess an extremely robust enclosure making them the first ATEX device on the market with IP65 certification.

Funkwerk Security Communications GmbH will also be presenting its expanded portfolio of robust FC4-series industrial DECT handsets.
