BK Technologies Corporation (NYSE American: BKTI) today announced that it has commenced production of its KNG mobile series radios at its Melbourne, Florida manufacturing facility and expects the radios will be exclusively manufactured in the U.S. beginning in 2023.

As previously announced, in April 2021 the Company expanded its printed circuit board assembly capabilities and capacity at its Melbourne facility with the addition of surface mount technology (SMT) equipment. With the enhanced production capabilities, BK can now fully support the in-house manufacture of its KNG family of products. The Company expects this move will allow for improved quality control and shortened lead time and help prevent business interruptions, ultimately driving efficiencies around product costs, inventory throughput and working capital management.

John Suzuki, CEO of BK Technologies commented, “Our KNG mobile series of radios have historically been a core product for BK and a large portion of our customer base deploys the KNG mobile radio line as part of their radio fleet. We’re very pleased that our strategic initiatives to enhance production capacity at our Melbourne facility, have brought us to the point where we can now fully manufacture the KNG mobile radio series in-house. This shift is expected to lower our total cost of KNG production and enhance the margin profile, as we’ll have better supply chain visibility and control, quality control and the ability to drive efficiencies onsite at our own facility. We have had a longstanding commitment to and success with our ‘American Made’ design, manufacture and service model and we’re excited to fully transition another product line to our Florida facility.”
