The DTEx Series delivers the loudest and clearest audio in class, which together with its industrial-grade design and construction ensures ultimate durability, reliability and protection from the extreme elements facing those who work at sea.

Entel, a market leader in the design and manufacturing of commercial-grade maritime onboard communications, is launching the DTEx Commercial Marine Series. These intrinsically safe* commercial marine portables offer standout crystal-clear audio, alongside exceptional range, performance and durability – essential for the demanding conditions faced at sea.

Key options, features and benefits of this tough and dependable new series, include:

  • VHF or UHF, display & non-display models
  • Industrial-grade design
  • ATEX and IECEx intrinsically safe approvals for EU and non-EU markets
  • Meets the essential EN60945 Maritime Approval
  • IP68 – industry-leading submersible rating (2 meters, 4 hours)
  • Digital mode (UHF only)
  • Loud and intelligible audio (using the latest noise reduction technology) – ideal for high noise environments such as those experienced on deck at sea
  • High-visibility OLED display (high contrast white on black) - allowing for excellent readability in all light conditions
  • High-torque ergonomic controls and ultra-tactile buttons - making the radios easier to more reliably operate when using gloved hands
  • Fully submersible gold-plated battery & accessory connectors - ensuring ultimate protection against corrosion and other common saltwater hazards.

The DTEx Series delivers the loudest and clearest audio in class, which together with its industrial-grade design and construction ensures ultimate durability, reliability and protection from the extreme elements facing those who work at sea.

“All aspects of the DTEx Series have been meticulously thought through – everything from operating in high noise environments , extreme temperatures, varying light conditions, poor visibility and the effects of corrosive sea water, through to heavy-handed and gloved-hand use,” said Steve Mulka, Global Product Manager at Entel.

The Series’ voice annunciation is an additional benefit, allowing users to change channel without having to look at the display - a particularly helpful feature for non-display models. This programmable feature gives further assurance that the correct channel is selected, allowing operators to focus on the task in hand.

“The combined features of our industrial-grade DTEx Series are setting the benchmark for next-generation intrinsically safe onboard portables, providing exceptional durability and usability even in the uniquely extreme and hostile conditions of life at sea,” added Steve Mulka.

The UHF DTEx Series also offers DMR digital and analogue modes of operation. The analogue mode allows for backwards compatibility with any existing analogue radios on board and a simple migration path to the benefits of digital communications.

Entel’s free user-friendly Onboard Reprograming PC App is another key feature. It allows users to easily and seamlessly re-program a DTEx radio whilst still onboard. This unique, simple-to-use PC app enables even non-technical personnel to effortlessly drag and drop a new programming file from an email to a DTEx radio.

The DTEx Series package includes a Li-Ion battery pack, drop-in charger, belt clip, high-efficiency antenna and quick-start user guide (alongside Entel’s complete portfolio of accessories). Entel’s intelligent Lithium-Ion batteries deliver optimum performance and safety - in digital mode, the duty cycle of the DT900 radios is more than 17.5 hours from a single charge.
