SEE Introduces SEE Fjord Radio Coverage Solution

Source: The Critical Communications Review | Gert Jan Wolf editor

SEE Telecom recently designed new radio coverage solutions with DAB broadcasting and emergency messages insertion.

This new solution is designed with in mind the large number of tunnels across Norway.

The new system, named SEE-FJORD, is easy to install an can be installed within a day. The plug and play system is also easy to operate and maintain.

SEE-FJORD is a flexible system that adapts to the length of the tunnel, the number of zones for inserting emergency messages, the number of DAB blocks available at national, regional, and local levels.

The system connects to the standard Statens Vegvesen (The Norwegian Public Roads Administration) interface to allow the sending of pre-recorded or live messages from the national traffic control center in Oslo or regional centers. Following the operational needs of Statens Vegvesen, the SEE Telecom solution manages the prioritization of the sending of emergency messages with SIP Phones sent by firefighters locally or by regional or national stations.

During the past 11 years, over 150 tunnels throughout Norway were equipped with amplificators by SEE Telecom, integrated and maintained by our local partners. For the first time, SEE Telecom proposes a whole integrated plug and play system which reduces the installation time and cost, providing all the equipment, conformity to Statens Vegvesen standards, and maintenance.

The recent tunnels equipped with the fully integrated SEE-FJORD system by SEE Telecom are the Maursund and Kågen tunnels in Troms og Finnmark county in northern Norway.
