The upgraded communications system will consist of approximately 30,000 P25 radios operating on 700/800 MHz simulcast and multicast sites.

The State of Utah has selected Federal Engineering, Inc. to provide technical support and project management assistance to the Utah Communication Authority (the Authority) during the implementation of a state-wide upgrade of their 800 MHz Radio System.

Mr. Quinton Stephens, General Counsel and Deputy Director for the Authority, said: “Federal Engineering has been providing public safety mobile radio consulting services to the State for almost two years now. They are thoroughly familiar with our unique needs and were instrumental in developing the request for proposals for the new radio system. Based upon their vast Utah experience, they were the clear choice in supporting the implementation of the new radio system.”

Mr. David Edmunds, the Authority’s Executive Director, stated: “We have been happy with FE’s work. They have exceeded our expectations on multiple occasions and we look forward to their participation during this next phase of our project.”

The upgraded communications system will consist of approximately 30,000 P25 radios operating on 700/800 MHz simulcast and multicast sites, approximately 180 operator position consoles with the ability to expand to approximately 235 operator position consoles in the future, an integrated Network Management System (NMS) capable of monitoring and controlling the above systems and a centralized voice logging recorder to record all public safety radio traffic
