Airbus has been selected to update the secure Tetra communications network of the Tranvia de Murcia, which currently serves as the town’s Tramline.

The update will be completed with the collaboration of the COMSA Industrial – infrastructure and industrial engineering company – as installer and integrator of the network.

The Tranvia de Murcia communications network, based on Airbus Tetra Claricor technology, provides secure voice and data communications for the tramline employees. It also allows communication between the Central Control Post (PCC) and on-board equipment through the use of SDS (Short Data Service) messaging to share important information and monitor the operation of the lines.

"This renewal demonstrates how the solidity and reliability of Airbus’ secure communications solutions and technology are a guarantee of coverage and security at the service of citizens" said Juan Carlos Hernández, General Director of Airbus SLC (Secure Land Communications) in Spain.

"The solution adopted by Tranvia de Murcia is a clear commitment to the innovation, safety and quality of our service", added Severiano Arias, General Director of Tranvia de Murcia.

Key features made available by this technology include tram servicing information, time regulations and delays, vehicle statuses and positioning or times of passage, and possible in-vehicle alarm triggering. All of the latter are essential functionalities for optimal service management, the smooth-running of tram operations, and the safeguard of passengers.

The update of the Tetra communications network with Claricor virtualization technology will bring higher network availability and uninterrupted service to the users.

Tranvia de Murcia is a 50% concession company by FCC (Fomento de Construcciones y Contratas); Spanish Construction Company, and COMSA.
