The redundant DAMM TetraFlex system will primarily be used for the airport’s security, operations and maintenance users.

Airport Authority of India (AAI) has chosen a DAMM TetraFlex® Radio System for secure mission-critical radio communication for Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport at Lucknow located in the northern region of India.

The famous Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport is the 11th busiest airport in the country and has seen passenger traffic grow at an exponential rate, clocking a compound annual growth rate of 19.6% since 2008.

The current remodelling of the airport includes construction of a world-class passenger terminal as well as associated infrastructure, with an integrated terminal area of 84,000m2 and a retail area stretching over 15,000m2. Once the new integrated terminal building T3 is operational, the airport will be able to handle around 14.4 million passengers a year, a jump of almost 230% in capacity compared to the present 4.4 million annual passengers.

“The Lucknow Airport project is a really exciting project for us and reinforces our strong position to provide a modern, future-proof solution for a state-of-the-art airport,” says Carsten Laursen, Regional Director at DAMM.

The redundant DAMM TetraFlex® system will be deployed across the airport operation. It will primarily be used for the airport’s security, operations and maintenance users to secure passengers’ safety with a reliable mission-critical voice and data communication system.

The Engineering, Procurement & Construction (EPC) contractor for the project is NCC Limited. DAMM’s Authorised System Partner Consort Digital will provide project engineering services to NCC for supply, provisioning and support of the TETRA radio system.

The DAMM TetraFlex Radio System provides the following salient features:

  • Fully IP-based solution
  • Fully redundant configuration
  • Secure, reliable low-noise TETRA communication
  • Compliance with the open TETRA standard, ensuring multi-vendor terminal support
  • Integrated voice and data logging solution for storage and playback
  • Gateways for interconnection to PBX and conventional networks
  • Provision to integrate into smartphones for designated users using the DAMM TetraFlex PTT (Push-To-Talk) application
  • Easy integration, installation, commissioning and maintenance
