Tait Communications, Prescom and Systel Announce DMR Collaboration for Fire and Rescue Services
The partnership builds on an established track record in Switzerland and Spain, and was made public on 1 October 2026.
The collaboration combines Tait's DMR radio technology with the experience Prescom and Systel have gained in mission-critical communications and control room solutions. The three companies state that the resulting offering provides a joined-up approach spanning the control room, the network infrastructure and the firefighter in the field, rather than treating each element as a separate procurement.
According to the partners, the objective is to give Fire and Rescue Services practical, managed interoperability that protects operational continuity while introducing modern, flexible and resilient communications technology. By supporting both DMR Tier 2 and DMR Tier 3, the solution is positioned to accommodate a range of deployment scenarios, from conventional and simplex or repeater-based operation to trunked network architectures. This allows services to align the choice of tier with their operational requirements and migration pathways.
The announcement reflects a wider trend within the public safety sector, where emergency services are seeking to modernise their communications estates without compromising the reliability of existing operations. Digital mobile radio remains widely deployed across the fire and rescue community, and integrated approaches that unite radio infrastructure with control room systems are increasingly sought by agencies looking to reduce interoperability gaps between organisations and between technology domains.
The prior deployments in Switzerland and Spain form the foundation of the new collaboration, providing a reference base from which the partners intend to engage Fire and Rescue Services seeking a coordinated, end-to-end approach. Further details on commercial availability, target markets and specific implementation programmes were not included in the announcement.
