Johannesburg-based firefighters said the new hand held devices was a vast improvement in comparison to the previous ones.
The Johannesburg
Emergency Medical Services said on last eek Tuesday it had not received any
complaints from firefighters about the radios they were currently using.
Eyewitness News reported on last week Tuesday that emergency
services in Tshwane were experienced communication problems with the
Korean manufactured Tetra system.
The officials threatened that without proper communication, they refuse
to enter burning buildings if they're unable to communicate.
Johannesburg EMS’ Synock Matobako said there were no complaints from
firefighters in the city about the Tetra system which it rolled out.
“I assume that, due to the fact that we have not received any complaints, that people are happy with what we’ve supplied.”
Johannesburg-based firefighters said the new hand held devices was a vast improvement in comparison to the previous ones.
Two senior EMS sources raised concerns about the money spent on the
Tetra system and the failure to roll out all the phases of the programme
effectively.
