According to radioresourcemag.com The Middle East is becoming the next battleground for digital technologies such as Digital Mobile Radio (DMR), digital Private Mobile Radio (dPMR), TETRA and Project 25 (P25).

According to Thomas Lynch, analyst at IMS research, the region has installed more than 1.5 million analogue units and it seems that this will move toward digital solutions over time. In fact, Lynch expects that 40 percent of all active licensed radios will be converted to digital radios by the end of 2015. As the market in the middle east had a 20% drop in 2009, now the market has bounced back. The growth of infrastructure development played a key role as well as the fact that the middle east region wants to be positioned as a key player on international affairs. The forecast for TETRA is most positive as this technology is expected to have the highest forecast in terms of users before 2016.

Furthermore, in May 2012, the IIR will organise the annual TWC (TETRA World Congress) in Dubai and just before the TWC, APCO International will organise its 2nd Annual Global Congress from the first to the third.
