TELTRONIC announces a change of focus in its 2012 marketing & communications activities

"The company continues to support the TCCA but will not be exhibiting during the TETRA World Congress or in other TCCA-related events...."

TELTRONIC recognises that TETRA is now a well-known, widespread technology which has been supplied to at least 125 countries around the globe. Therefore, the company has taken the decision to enhance its communications activities by promoting TETRA-based applications rather than focusing on presenting the technology itself.

As a result of this decision, TELTRONIC will no longer participate in the TETRA World Congress or in other TCCA-related events on the understanding that the user community is sufficiently aware of all TETRA functionality and benefits. Instead, TELTRONIC will increase its investment in its highly successful TELTRONIC Day concept and other relevant events from 2012 onwards.

TELTRONIC has had a strong 2011. In spite of Government cutbacks in its home market of Spain, the company was awarded the contract to build the Balearic Islands public safety TETRA network as well as being asked by existing customers to extend network capacity and supply radio terminals to systems already installed in the Basque Country and Canary Islands among others. TELTRONIC is also at the forefront of developing innovative solutions based on TETRA for new market segments such as taxis.

Outside of Spain, TELTRONIC’s business is growing fast. The company remains the number one supplier of TETRA equipment across Latin America. The opening of offices in high economic growth regions such as Asia-Pacific (Singapore) and Middle East (Dubai) is also starting to pay off as company income from Asia grows at rates of up to 50% annually, threatening to surpass the levels reached in our more mature markets.

And of course, TELTRONIC’s North American subsidiary, PowerTrunk Inc., was awarded the first ever TETRA contract in North America in October to supply a full, advanced communications solution to Canadian power utility, BC Hydro. This follows on from PowerTrunk Inc. having been the first company to be awarded type acceptance licences for its TETRA infrastructure and terminals by both US and Canadian regulators - FCC and Industry Canada - and having completed successful TETRA pilots in both countries since 2009. PowerTrunk is also able to offer North American public safety customers its P25 product portfolio, including Phase 2, with Ethernet/IP hardware based on its highly successful TETRA infrastructure.

As 2011 draws to a close, TELTRONIC is firmly focused on the future. After a highly successful 15 years as part of the IBV Corporation - during which the company grew internationally with a fourfold increase in turnover and entered the digital age to become one of the market leaders in TETRA technology - TELTRONIC now has a new shareholder. N+1 is one of the major Spanish private equity groups, whose investment will allow TELTRONIC to further expand its portfolio of products, services and markets, while maintaining the continuity of its management structure and focus on R&D.

As part of its strategy to look beyond TETRA, TELTRONIC has already achieved important sales of APCO P25 equipment in Latin America and is a leader in next-generation TETRA + Broadband solutions for public safety with its ground-breaking TelMAX project generating innovative products and first implementations.

The TELTRONIC Day concept has become well-known and widely accepted in a number of countries around the world. In Mexico, the sixth edition of this annual event took place in Puebla earlier this year, and similar events have taken place in countries as diverse as Australia, Colombia and Korea. In order to serve our customers better and in recognition of the rapid growth of TELTRONIC’s international activities, the company intends to increase the number of TELTRONIC Days held around the world during 2012. A list of locations, dates and full details of each event will soon be available so that the global PMR community has the opportunity to attend a TELTRONIC Day to keep up to date with the latest industry developments.

TELTRONIC has been - and will continue to be - a strong supporter of the TETRA standard and the TETRA Association, participating actively in a number of its working groups. TELTRONIC also recognises the support received from the Association over the years and welcomes its change of name from the TETRA Association to the TETRA + Critical Communications Association (TCCA) TELTRONIC looks forward to working closely with the TCCA in the future to maintain the TETRA standard and help develop future technical standards for broadband PMR.
These are exciting times for the PMR industry, as enormous opportunities and rewards are on offer for those nimble, forward-looking companies who are able to adapt, grow and anticipate trends in the new economic, financial and technological climate. TELTRONIC is looking forward to the challenges of 2012 and beyond.
