Entry Deadline is on the 15th December 2011 and awards night will be held on the 16 March 2012 in The Savoy, London

This year marks the introduction of the inaugural International TETRA Awards, a collaboration between the TETRA Association and TETRA Today.

The Awards have been designed to accord recognition to excellence in the field of TETRA radio communications.
The range of Award categories offers opportunities for products, applications and solutions of merit across the full range of TETRA activity, in both public service and private enterprise. A panel of acknowledged experts and authorities will assess each entry, seeking evidence of flair, initiative and enterprise beyond the ordinary.

Awards are handed out for the following categories:

Best TETRA Enterprise Product

In this category the judges will be looking for a product that best utilises the capabilities that TETRA has to offer. The product must be feature-rich, easy to use and applicable to a broad spectrum of non-public safety critical communications scenarios. The product must have a clearly defined purpose which should have been incorporated from the initial design stage. The entry must also show evidence of how it has benefitted the end user; case studies and testimonials would be an advantage.

Best TETRA Enterprise Solution

A counterpart to the Best TETRA Enterprise Product category, this award will recognise excellence in the implementation of an entire TETRA communications system. Judges will be looking for evidence of how the solution addresses the initial requirements set out by the customer, including the choice of components throughout the system. Extra credit will be given for adaptability and future-proofing, taking into account the likely growth of the end-user's business. Clear evidence should be included to demonstrate the extent to which the solution has benefitted the customer.

Best use of TETRA for Private Industry

This award is aimed at private companies that have adopted a TETRA system into their business. Entries should include an outline of the original business case, details of the decision making process and why it was deemed necessary to adopt TETRA in particular. Evidence should also include data that shows how the TETRA network has benefitted the everyday running of the organisation. Innovative application will be rewarded.

Best use of TETRA for Public Safety 'Blue Light' use

In parallel with the Private Industry category, this award will focus attention on entries that display excellence in the Public Safety 'Blue Light' sector. Judges will be looking for evidence of safeguards being in place for data security, full adoption of the capabilities of TETRA across a range of platforms, scalability, interoperability, efficient use of bandwidth, and crucially reliability. Clear results that show how TETRA systems have improved response times, reduced areas of no coverage and improved staff safety would be an advantage.

Best TETRA Innovation

Applicable across solutions, products and services, and all sectors, this award will be looking for examples of true ingenuity. Has your organisation installed a TETRA system that pushes the boundaries of current thinking? Has TETRA revolutionised the communications in your business? The Judges will be looking for systems, business cases and solutions that are not commonplace yet have yielded excellent results. Entries will be rewarded for clear reasoning of why they stand out above the rest.

Green TETRA Award

This category will celebrate TETRA systems that have a clear eco-friendly objective. As the world becomes ever more conscious of its environmental responsibilities, combined with the increasing expense of traditional forms of energy, products and solutions that seek power from alternate sources and reduce their carbon footprint become ever more significant. Judges will be looking for demonstrable evidence that 'green thinking' has been a major priority throughout the design, implementation and end use of the product or solution. This can be in the form of alternative energy sourcing (wind/solar etc), choosing materials that are less impactful on the environment or promotion of environmentally responsible application. This category is open to products and solutions.

Judging

A select panel of judges from around the globe will be reviewing entries in mid-January. They will be looking for elements of originality within each entry, as well as all the criteria mention in the 'How To Enter' section of this website. All at the top of their field, these judges will be thorough and authoratitive - if they do not feel there is an entry good enough to win a category, there will not be a winner be default. The TETRA Awards are striving for excellence in the TETRA world, only entries that demonstrate this will make the shortlist.
