Airbus partners up with local firefighters and provides professional communication technologies for the spectacular motorbike racing event.

Airbus provides its secure, collaborative communications solution to ensure a 4G coverage of Europe’s renowned motorbike and quad event – the 44th Enduropale du Touquet Pas-de-Calais. Thanks to this technology, the local firefighters taking part in the event will be in a position to better protect the expected 500,000 visitors during the 3-day-event, which starts on the 1st of February 2019.

Airbus signed a partnership with the local fire department to reinforce the operations management system they implement every year and to allow them to use video streaming or picture transmission in real time. Airbus will make this possible by providing terminals fitted with the collaborative tool Tactilon Agnet 900 and the LTE tactical cell BLR (Boucle Locale Radio), which is already used by the French Army in various communication channels, such as Tetrapol, WiFi, satellite, or Wide Area Network operators.

For Airbus, one of the other main focuses during this event is showing how this 4G communication solution complements the Tetrapol technology the fire department has been using for over ten years. In this regard, implementing a gateway that ensures these two solutions are interoperable will lead to establishing communications between smartphones and Airbus’ TPH700 portable devices used by the firefighters.

Every year, since 1975, the Enduropale takes place on the beaches of Touquet-Paris-Plages, southwest of Calais. The event has a circuit of around 13 kilometres – the longest sand track in the world for this type of competition.
