Simoco Extends Contract to Deliver DMR for Airshow in Australia

Simoco Wireless Solutions extended the contract to deliver DMR communications infrastructure to the Avalon Airshow in Australia that will be held from 28 February to 5 March 2018 at Avalon Airport in Geelong, Victoria

The event is the largest civil and military air show in the Australian calendar and attrackts about 200,000 visitors over 6 days.

Having provided and managed a digital mobile radio (DMR) communications network for previous events, organiser Aerospace Australia has now extended the contract with Simoco for a further four shows.

During the airshow, Simoco uses its DMR Tier III Trunked Sytem to provide resilience, scalability and secure communications using 25 independent and disparate radio talkgroups, The network will be used by staff and volunteers. It is expected that the network will facilitate between 500 and 600 call every hour over the nine main days of the event.

Simoco will deliver 425 portable DMR radios, five desktop bases and 12 repeaters. In addition, the Simoco team also provided 30 airband radio devices to complement the private DMR network and a managed service for the network, monitoring radio devices for faults or misuse.
