10ft containers had been installed with a 9 metre lattice tower in order to deploy critical communications antenna with sufficient height clearance from local obstacles to maximise VHF, AIS & UHF TETRA coverage around the site.

SeaRoc Group has deployed its third SeaHub Communications System on the world’s first offshore Reactive Compensation Station (RCS), at Ørsted’s Hornsea Project One offshore wind farm.

When operational in 2020, Hornsea Project One will overtake Walney Extension to become the biggest offshore wind farm in the world.

The SeaHub system is supplied as an 8ft ISO DNV certified container, housing all the equipment required for reliable communications and logistical data sharing for the 1.2GW project located 120km from shore.

The SeaHub installed on the RCS is the third to be deployed to the Hornsea Project One Offshore Wind Farm, and the seventh in total to support Ørsted’s UK portfolio of projects, including Race Bank, Burbo Bank Extension and Walney Extension.

The other two SeaHub units that SeaRoc Group provided for Hornsea Project One, utilised 10ft ISO DNV certified containers and included a new, unique feature to enhance the communication system’s performance. The 10ft containers had been installed with a 9 metre lattice tower in order to deploy critical communications antenna with sufficient height clearance from local obstacles to maximise VHF, AIS & UHF TETRA coverage around the site.

SeaHubs incorporate a variety of self-contained safety systems, including fire suppression, environmental monitoring, climate control, fire, flood, gas and various other alarms and a UPS. All systems can be monitored and controlled over IP with SeaRoc Group’s Marine Management System, SeaPlanner.

The third SeaHub was successfully deployed onto the RCS platform at Hornsea Project One during the week of the 23rd July 2018.
