a total value of 4.5 million euro (US$6.5 million)

Selex Communications secured three agreements with TETRASVYAZ, extending orders previously awarded, and worth a total value of 4.5 million euro (US$6.5 million).

The first 2.5 million euro (US$3.6 million) agreement concerns the supply of TETRA equipment (25 radio base stations, one switching node with network management software and 665 mobile terminals), which will be used to ensure secure and effective communications for the country's Special Services within the South Federal District project. Selex has been working on this project since 2009, receiving 3.5 million euro (US$5 million) in previous orders.

The other two contracts are worth about 2 million euro (US$2.9 million) and involve the supply of TETRA equipment (39 radio base stations and devices for control rooms) for the Winter Olympic Games 2014, which will take place in Sochi. Selex supplied during 2010 about 50 radio base stations and one switching node with management software.

A TETRA network will be created for the Olympic Games; it will cover the Krasnodar region, where Sochi is situated, including the Russian coastline on the Black Sea, with a 24-hour service. Radio communications via a TETRA network represents a key element for both the games and the whole Krasnodar region's security. The partnership for Sochi with TETRASVYAZ started at the end of 2009 and all activities are expected to be completed within 2012.
